Genetically Engineered Models and Services: Rederivation
The use of animals with a less than a desirable health status can confound research results and cause introduction of pathogenic agents in your facility. Rederivation is the principal method of removing adventitious agents for laboratory stocks and strains. While there may be treatments available for various pathogens, rederivation remains the only guaranteed method of adventitious agent removal. We conduct rederivation services using embryo transfer procedures. The contaminated and newly rederived VAF Plus® colonies are housed in the safety of our biosecure isolators.
- Standard rederivation includes comprehensive health monitoring (serology, bacteriology, parasitology, and pathology) to confirm the success of the rederivation procedure and guarantees the return of a minimum of three breeding pairs.
- Rapid rederivation saves time and resources by delivering at minimum two visibly pregnant females post embryo transfer.
- Our CryoReserve program includes the cryopreservation and storage of additional embryos. Should the need arise due to a catastrophe or a contamination at your facility, the cryoreserved inventory allows us to quickly generate additional rederived offspring.
